Meet the Crew - Kai

Hello xCREW Community! For this edition of Meet the Crew, we introduce Kai My name is Kai Strong, I am a non-binary runner, early childhood yoga and creative movement instructor. I am the founder of Kaizen Body Harmonics; a holistic wellness and fitness initiative using sound frequency, movement and technology to fine tune the body. 1. Do you have a memorable or rewarding experience that you can share from your time teaching yoga to Pre-K to 5th grade students? - In my most recent Halloween class, the students created spooky poses all generated by the students through organic movements. They each took the time to think about how the spooky characters showed up in all of our yoga poses. It was delightful to watch the process and see the fun results. 2. Any favorite running spot(s) in the Bay Area? - My favorite running spot in San Francisco is Ocean Beach either in the early mornings with the surfers or in the early evening with all the dog walkers. Thank you again Kai!...

Meet the Crew - Jiho

Hey fellow xCREWers! We are back with another edition of “Meet the Crew”, we introduce Jiho! Hey everyone! This is Jiho. I am a cyclist from the Bay Area and I enjoy biking because it gets me out of the house and I appreciate my surrounding areas a lot more. I also love riding with my friends because it gives me the ability to catch up with them while enjoying a healthy activity. What drew you to bikes/cycling? What drew me to bikes is that they represent the relationship between person and machine in the rawest form. I also can add my artistic interpretations on the bikes I build, which allows me to express myself. Favorite bike path in CA! And a cycling course that's on your bucket list :) My favorite bike path is Backbay in Southern California, and SF to LA in on PCH is on my bucket list. Thank you again Jiho! We really loved hearing about your story as a cyclist and how it allows you to stay active and be artisitic. So stoked to have you be ...

Meet the Crew - Grace

Hey xCREW Readers! We are back with another “Meet the Crew series” — and for this edition, we introduce Grace, one of our beta testers residing in LA! Hi! My name's Grace and I moved to LA last summer after graduating from the University of Michigan (go blue!) I love running, hiking, and being outdoors and this year I have run marathons in LA, Boise, and Chicago! Any tips for runners training for their first marathon?: Take it easy and run wayyyy slower than you think on the long run days! Most memorable experience from one of your marathons :) During my first marathon, I tripped around mile 20 and other runners helped me get up, stretch, and fuel up to keep goin. Acts of kindness like this are something that I love about the running community! Thank you again Grace! It was great hearing your passion in being outdoors and training for marathons in multiple cities. We’re grateful to have you be a part of xCREW community. Happen to be a avid runner and marathon trainer ...

Meet the Crew - Eddie

Introducing Eddie -  One of our beta tester ambassadors for the Meet the Crew members series. Here about his story as a fellow hiker based in the Bay! Could you please introduce yourself? ”Hi, I’m Eddie! I combine my passion for photography and graphic design with my love for the outdoors. I frequently camp and hike with my fiancé and friends, always eager to discover new places. One of my personal goals is to visit all the national parks in the US, and I also hope to explore internationally and experience nature around the world. Aside from outdoorsy stuff, I enjoy music, movies, and traveling.” 2. What do you enjoy the most about camping? Any hiking trails on your bucket list? ”I enjoy being able to disconnect and ground myself in nature. As a designer, I'm on the computer all the time for work so being able to balance that with my camping excursions refreshes my mind. I don't have specific trails on my bucket list but I do have bucket list destinations: Patagonia, N...

Meet the Crew - Angela

Introducing Angela, one of our very first ambassadors and also one of our beta testers. We first met her back in our onsite orientation in San Francisco. Hear more about her story and what she has to share in the local sports community. 1. How did you start out in being a leader of a running group? “In this world where we spend so much time on screens, time spent with people face-to-face is something I cherish a lot. I've always wanted to help my friends and family fall in love with running, hiking, or just being outside and away from screens in general, and that's how I started having more people run together or hike together.” 2. How did you get into sports and what are your hopes for future sports groups? “I got into sports because it is a way for me to step away from screens, not think about anything else but only focus on what's happening at the moment. It's also a way to force myself, a homebody, to step outside and get some fresh air. For future activity clubs ...

Meet the Crew - Ravi

Introducing our 'Meet the Crew' spotlight series - where you get to know more about members in the sports community. In our first part of our series, we would like to introduce Ravi, one of our first ambassadors for the Meet the Crew Members series and he also participated in our first running event last month. Hear his story now below: 1. How did you start out in being a member for sports clubs? “I've always adhered to the credo that a balanced lifestyle is key to a fulfilling life.  When I lived in Phoenix and trained for my first marathon, I joined a fantastic running community. We not only shared a common passion for running but also general health, fitness and other broader interests.  Running fosters a strong sense of community and togetherness. Later, when I first moved to San Francisco 15 years ago, I was very fortunate that my place was a stone's throw away from an ashtanga yoga center.  That was my gateway into a wonderful community of a...
